Soul Purpose
By Charlie Hartwell
(Am) I just can’t wait to meet the
Great Maker
(Em) But what if I’ve made his acquaintance
before?
(Am) Once thought my spirit was made for
my body
(Em) What if these fingers were made for
my soul?
(F)Always thought choices I made here on
earth
(Em) Determined my destiny forevermore
(Am) What if these brief days are part
of a journey
(Em) Learning things here and I’ve
learned some before
(Am) These thoughts came as I stared at
a body I loved
(Em) Cold and white, in ashes the same
night
(Am) Realized, three days fore he died
(Em) In a deep conversation that was shared
just with eyes
(F) Always talked to a body I recognized
(Em) But as we gazed deeply, I (D)
knew
I was not talking to a body (Em) but a
soul (Am)
(Dm) What is myself? (Am)
Who is in me?
(Dm) Why have I come? (Am)
Who have I been?
(G) Cocoons help a butterfly (Am)
grow
(Dm) What need I learn? (Am)
What must I give?
(Dm) What must (F)
I shed? (Am) Did I choose (C)
this?
(G) Cocoons help a butterfly (Am)
grow
(Dm) Who needs my (F)
touch? (Am)Who can I (C)
heal?
(Dm) What is true (F)
love? (Am) Who can I (C)
bless
(G) Cocoons help a butterfly (Am)
grow
(G) Cocoons help a butterfly (C)
grow
(G) Cocoons help a butterfly (Am)
grow
