Giving and Receiving

(Am) I was flying up that mountain, with power beyond belief
I could (G) touch a tired sister, give her (F) energy and relief (Am)
They would ask to take my hand, when their gas was running low
The (G) power that came from me, (F) helped to make them (Am) go

Chorus

If you (C) give and it's received
Blessings double, triple even
You can't (G) know how big it will be coming (Am) back
But if the (C) treasure isn't taken
And you give you may be shaken
Pain of (G) refusal, can put you in the (Am) black

I was fueled beyond compare, every time they touched my hand
I could (G) see things I have never seen, (F) heal upon (Am) command
I could (Am) blow and call the wind, I could help make others fly
There seemed (G) nothing that I couldn't do, (F) nothing I wouldn't (Am) try

Chorus

In a cave we found another group, thought I'd give to them as well
Didn't (G) know they were not taking it, to (F) others it was clear as a (Am) bell
As I climbed back down the mountain, the lesson became clear
After they (G) didn't receive what I had to give, I (F) collapsed in a heap of (Am) fear

Chorus Break

Three others from our group - the Puma, Love, and the Voice of Elders
(G) They got thwacked as well, couldn't (F) move, scramblin' for
(Am) shelter
If not for burpin' lady, one would've slept on the mountain that night
She'd been (G) filled with fear, energy drained and she (F) sat
in a state of (Am) fright

Chorus
